Our Policy:

Welcome to connect.clearbit.com (the “Site”). This Site is operated by APIHub, Inc. dba Clearbit. (“Connect”, “we”, “us” and/or “our”). This Site is operated by Connect and has been created to provide information about our company and our service known as Connect that integrates and displays information about your contacts in connection with the use of your Outlook account (the “Services”) to our Site visitors and Service users (“you”, “your”). This Privacy Policy sets forth Connect’s policy with respect to information including personally identifiable data (“Personal Information”) and other information that is collected from visitors to and users of the Site and Services.

Clearbit, Inc. participates in the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield frameworks. Our Privacy Shield Policy, the terms of which are incorporated by reference into this Privacy Policy, can be found here.

Information We Provide:

Connect displays information about your contacts and companies within your professional network, including, but not limited to the number of contacts you have in common, social handles, titles, company size, funding and other relevant information (“Connect Information”) through the Services. Connect obtains data for this Connect Information in three ways: (i) our technology locates and aggregates publicly-available information in a useful way; (ii) we license data from third parties; (iii) individuals contribute data about contacts and companies stored in their Outlook accounts by using the Services.

Information We Collect:

Information You Provide by Installing the Services: When you install the Services, you provide Connect with access to your Outlook account and permission to access and use certain information contained therein. Connect’s technology automatically extracts certain information from your emails and address book. We use information collected in accordance with this Privacy Policy to improve the quality of Connect Information provided to you and others through the Services. In exchange for allowing this access, you receive the right to use the Services, including access to Connect Information, at no charge under specified terms and conditions (available at connect.clearbit.com/terms.

We may collect the following types of information (including Personal Data) from your emails and contacts:

By using the Services or otherwise providing Personal Data relating to other people to us, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use the Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Connect will never identify you as the source of Connect Information, except as set forth in the section below titled “Our Disclosure of Your Personal Data and Other Information.” Information received from you through your use of the Services will continue to be used by Connect in accordance with this Privacy Policy as long as the Services remain installed. You can stop sharing information with Connect at any time by uninstalling the Services, however information previously shared with Connect will remain available through the Services. You may request to have your own Personal Data removed from Connect Information at any time by claiming your profile or contacting us by email at support@clearbit.com. Similarly, anyone whose Personal Data you have provided through the Services may request to have their Personal Data removed from our Connect Information claiming their profile or by contacting us by email at support@clearbit.com.

If you have a Connect Premium membership, Connect will not make available any of the foregoing Personal Data from you to other users of the Services. However, Connect may still collect certain Personal Data and other information from you in connection with your use of the Services or Site (as further described below).

Personal Data we may collect through the Site includes the types listed above in “Information You Provide by Installing the Services”.

We ask that you not send us, and you not disclose, any sensitive Personal Data (e.g., social security numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, health, biometrics or genetic characteristics, criminal background or trade union membership) on or through the Site or otherwise to us.

Other Data Collected Through the Site: When you interact with Connect through the Site, we also receive and store certain personally non-identifiable information. Such information, which is collected passively using various technologies, cannot presently be used to specifically identify you. Connect may store such information itself or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by Connect affiliates, agents or service providers. Connect may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of visitors to our Site, the number of visitors to each page of our Site, and the domain names of our visitors' Internet service providers.

We may use a technology called "cookies." A cookie is a piece of information that the computer that hosts our Site gives to your browser when you access the Site. In all cases in which we use cookies, we will not collect Personal Data except with your permission. Google Analytics: We may allow third party service providers to use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activities over time and across different websites following your use of the Site. Browser or device information: Certain information is collected by most browsers, such as your Media Access Control (MAC) address, computer type (Windows or Macintosh), screen resolution, operating system name and version, language, and browser type and version. We use this information to ensure that the Services function properly.

Your IP address is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider. An IP address may be identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever a user accesses the Services, along with the time of the visit and the page(s) that were visited. Collecting IP addresses is standard practice and is done automatically by many websites, applications and other services. We use IP addresses for purposes such as calculating usage levels, diagnosing server problems and administering the Services. We may also derive your approximate location from your IP address.

Aggregated Personal Data Received through the Site or Services: In an ongoing effort to better understand and serve our users, Connect often conducts research on its customer demographics, interests and behavior based on the Personal Data and other information provided to us through either the Site or Services. This research may be compiled and analyzed on an aggregate basis, and Connect may share this aggregate data with its affiliates, agents and business partners. This aggregate information does not identify you personally. Connect may also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our Services to current and prospective business partners, and to other third parties for other lawful purposes.

By installing the Services, visiting our Site or otherwise voluntarily providing us with Personal Data, you are consenting to our use of your Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You acknowledge and agree that such Personal Data may be transferred from your current location to the offices and servers of Connect and the authorized third parties referred to herein, including those located in the United States.

Our Use of Your Personal Data and Other Information:

Connect uses the Personal Data you provide in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. Connect and its subsidiaries and affiliates (the “Related Companies”) may also use your Personal Data and other information collected through the Site or Services to help us improve the content and functionality of the Site and Services, to better understand our users and to improve the Site and Services, to improve our products and services, and for other internal business purposes. Connect and its Related Companies may use this information to contact you in the future to tell you about services we believe will be of interest to you. If we do so, each marketing communication we send you will contain instructions permitting you to “opt-out” of receiving future marketing communications. In addition, if at any time you wish not to receive any future marketing communications or you wish to have your name deleted from our mailing lists, please contact us as indicated below.

If Connect intends on using any Personal Data in any manner that is not consistent with this Privacy Policy, you will be informed of such anticipated use prior to or at the time at which the Personal Data is collected.

Our Disclosure of Your Personal Data and Other Information:

Connect is not in the business of selling your information outside of the Services. We consider this information to be a vital part of our relationship with you. There are, however, certain circumstances in which we may share your Personal Data with certain third parties without further notice to you, as set forth below.

Connect Information: Connect may make any information (including, but not limited to Personal Data) that our users contribute through the Services for inclusion in our Connect Information, that we collect from public web sources or that we license from third parties available to users of the Services and to our strategic partners. Connect will never identify you as the source of any particular Connect Information, except in connection with Business Transfers, Related Companies, Agents, Consultants and Related Third Parties or Legal Requirements, as further described below.

Business Transfers: As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, Personal Data may be part of the transferred assets.

Related Companies: We may also share your Personal Data with our Related Companies for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Agents, Consultants and Related Third Parties: Connect, like many businesses, sometimes hires other companies to perform certain business-related functions. Examples of such functions include mailing information, maintaining databases and processing payments. When we employ another entity to perform a function of this nature, we only provide them with the information that they need to perform their specific function.

Legal Requirements: Connect may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of Connect, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

We may use and disclose information that is not Personal Data for any purpose, except where we are required to do otherwise under applicable law. In some instances, we may combine non-Personal Data with Personal Data. If we do, we will treat the combined information as Personal Data as long as it is combined.

Your Choices:

You can visit the Site without providing any Personal Data. If you choose not to provide any Personal Data, you may not be able to use certain Services.

Exclusions:

This Privacy Policy does not apply to any Personal Data collected by Connect other than Personal Data collected through the Site or Services. This Privacy Policy shall not apply to any unsolicited information you provide to Connect through the Site or Services or through any other means. This includes, but is not limited to, unsolicited information provided to Connect regarding any ideas for new products or modifications to existing products, and other unsolicited submissions (collectively, “Unsolicited Information”). All Unsolicited Information shall be deemed to be non-confidential and Connect shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute such Unsolicited Information to others without limitation or attribution.

Children:

Connect does not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 13. If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any Personal Data through the Site or Services. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children never to provide Personal Data on the Site or through the Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Data to Connect through the Site or Services, please contact us, and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases.

Links to Other Web Sites:

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Site and Services. The Site or Services may contain links to other web sites not operated or controlled by Connect (the “Third Party Sites”). The policies and procedures we described here do not apply to the Third Party Sites. The links from the Site or Services do not imply that Connect endorses or has reviewed the Third Party Sites. We suggest contacting those sites directly for information on their privacy policies.

Security:

Connect takes reasonable steps to protect the Personal Data provided via the Site or Services from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you send to us via email. Please keep this in mind when disclosing any Personal Data to Connect.
